This presentation will (briefly) cover e-flows assessment and applications – from habitat methods to ecosystem approaches and from river reach to multiple basin scales. It will show how the e-flows assessment framework known as ELOHA (Ecological Limits of Hydrologic Alteration) came into being, and how it has been applied in river conservation and restoration, in Australia and internationally. Looking to the future, I will canvas how the eco-hydrological knowledge and predictive models derived from ELOHA applications can contribute to river management in our changing world. The presentation will wrap up with a quick look at The Brisbane Declaration and Global Action Agenda (2018) – a renewed call for concerted action to achieve beneficial outcomes from environmental flows and wise freshwater management for people, biodiversity and ecosystems. I will show how the Declaration is being received globally, who is using it, how, and to what ends.
